2016 Thorne Prize Winners

Members of team Spring hold win the third annual Thorne Prize for Social Innovation in Health or Education—an award of $25,000 that will be used to further implement their proposal to fight depression in a more timely and efficient manner.

The Thorne Prize for Social Innovation in Health or Education is a $25,000 cash prize awarded to the best student-led venture focused on social innovation in health or education. 

Upcoming Deadline: Mentor Application due January 31st

As an optional, preliminary stage of the application process for the $25,000 Thorne Prize, you can apply for a mentor/industry expert who will guide you through the application process. The mentor application will be due at midnight on January 31, 2018. Apply here!

Thorne Prize for Social Innovation in Health or Education ($25,000)

The prize will be awarded in the spring of each year to support a student or group of students beginning or continuing to develop a social enterprise or innovation focused on these two areas. The winner of the Thorne Prize receives automatic acceptance into the Tsai Center for Innovative Thinking at Yale Summer Fellowship (a summer program that provides a $15,000 stipend), and continued support from Yale faculty. The 2018 Thorne Prize application will be due on March 28, 2018. The application link will become available after the mentorship application process is complete.

The Thorne Prize for Social Innovation in Health or Education will be part of Startup Yale on April 20th, 2018. Startup Yale brings together Yale’s biggest entrepreneurship awards in one day of pitches, prizes and world-changing ideas.
